Lending software looks like forms. It isn't. The moment an NBFC signs up, the requirements multiply: bureau pulls with consent logs, KYC verification with document trails, configurable credit policies, maker-checker approvals, immutable audit logs, disbursal controls and repayment schedules that classify NPA automatically. Miss any of these and the platform fails at its first inspection, not its first demo.

The architectural decisions follow from the regulatory shape. Every state change gets an append-only log entry — user, time, before, after. Approval chains are configuration, not code, because credit policy changes quarterly. And the data model separates the application (what was true at decision time) from the customer (what is true now) — a distinction auditors probe and lazy schemas blur.

Integration depth is where most builds underestimate: CIBIL and Experian pulls, Aadhaar/PAN verification, e-sign, payment and NACH flows, SMS/WhatsApp customer communication — each with retries, reconciliation jobs and consent records. A lending MVP that ignores reconciliation is a demo with a database.

We know this stack intimately because we built and run our own lending product. That's the practical advantage we offer fintech clients: the edge cases — part disbursements, deviation approvals, foreclosure math, co-lending splits — are already solved, so your build starts at 'customise' rather than 'discover'.
