Flutter vs React Native in 2026: what we actually choose and why
Both frameworks are mature now. Here's the decision framework we use on real client projects — and when neither is the answer.

We ship both Flutter and React Native in production, so this isn't a fan war. The honest answer is that in 2026 the two are closer than ever — and the decision matters less than the team and the architecture around them. But there are still real differences that show up in specific projects.
Flutter wins when visual consistency and animation-heavy UI matter: custom-drawn interfaces, offline-first field apps with dense forms, or products that must look identical on Android and iOS. Its rendering engine doesn't lean on platform widgets, which is a strength for brand-heavy apps and occasionally a liability when you want a platform-native feel.
React Native wins when your team already knows React, when the app lives beside a large web codebase, or when you want native modules and hot updates with a mature JS ecosystem. For apps that are mostly lists, forms and API calls — which is most business software — the difference in day-to-day development is small.
Where neither is the answer: hardware-heavy apps (camera pipelines, BLE with strict timing, background processing) and apps that must squeeze every millisecond of launch time. There we go native — Kotlin or Swift — and accept two codebases as the price of doing it properly.
Our default for business apps in 2026: Flutter when the UI is custom and design-led, React Native when the team and surrounding ecosystem are React-shaped. Write down why you chose — because in three years, that reasoning matters more than the framework name.
